is it live, or is it Memorex
Back in late December I had a random stranger reach out to me about helping give them photography pointers. We chatted off and on for about a month and we talked technique and creativity. The subject came up that I had all this darkroom equipment to set up and use. I haven’t shot film in close to 20 years. She presented the idea that I should only shoot and process my own film for a little while. Eventually she won and I made the transition to shooting almost exclusively black and white film. I chose to do that because it is so much easier and more forgiving to process black and white film at home. Temperature doesn’t really matter so much. But I still brought my digital camera along to shoots and continued to shoot non-analog images. The problem I kept encountering when I was trying to process my digital images was how to not do a shitty black and white conversion, but instead make images that felt like film still….
The following images are NSFW and are from a very long time coming shoot this past January with an amazing glamour model, Shaun Fitzgerald. When we finally got our schedules in line, I told her I refused to shoot her the way she has always been photographed. Instead I want to shoot her like a fine art model (well, except for the photos using Juiceland provided attire).
