This past weekend the girlfriend and I “scheduled” a shoot with each other. We have done a couple other random shoots in the past couple months but never with an idea or concept in mind. I knew that she has always liked the idea of doing a shoot involving smeared lipstick….so that is what we did.
I wanted to make these images look and feel a little different than most of my other “studio” work, so I switched things up a little and ran with the black seamless. I also knew that I wanted the light to really accentuate her facial structure, collar bones and catch the detail in the scarification on her shoulder. That being said, I ran a really simple light set-up that I knew would do just that and provide enough separation so she wouldn’t just fade in to black.
Any guesses on what lighting set-up I decided to go with?
Here are my 4 favorite images from this shoot that I have processed so far. The last image in this set is very different than my usual overly controlled style. I hope you enjoy the images!
