Yesterday, I loaded up my almost 13 year old daughter and headed down to Graffiti Park at Castle Hill. Keep in mind, it was the last day of music for SXSW…
Parking was atrocious but we got lucky and only parked about a block away. There were so many groups of people walking towards and away from the “park”. Amazing how the graffiti culture appeals to some many different people. Or maybe it just the simple fact that previously thought of “counter culture” is accepted by all aspects of society now.
As we walked to the walls, I loaded a roll of Kodak Tri-X in my camera and handed it to my daughter. Told her she had 36 frames to do whatever she wanted to shoot. The results of her vision is after the jump.
We came home and she helped me process and develop the film. As I scanned the frames that were hers, I was completely blown away by her natural eye. Her composition was so on point without any direction from me. I walked around and watched her from afar as she wandered around the park. She put the camera to her eye, dropped it and walked closer or further away as she learned to frame with a 50mm prime lens.

As we were getting ready to leave, Bridgit Mendler from Disney Channel fame showed up. Obviously I had no clue who she was, but Thing 1 definitely did. She asked me if she could get a picture with her and I simply told her to politely ask her. Here is the result…
