un·bri·dled
A few weeks ago, an old friend of mine showed me an abandoned location they had found and wanted to explore. We walked around the building looking to see if there was an open entrance to maybe get inside. In a short amount of time, we found that open entrance and briefly explored the lit, but completely empty, building before one of us tripped the motion sensors. I haven’t ran that fast in a LONG time.
We sat and waited and watched for a little bit to see if anyone would show up… No one arrived after roughly waiting for half an hour. A new location had been found to create in. Just needed to respect the boundaries of the motion sensors.
Hours later, I was lucky enough to have Jesse volunteer to go back there with me to photograph her. I brought only my backpack which contained my Nikon F100 and 3 rolls of black and white film. Each roll had 36 exposures. I had 1 roll of Tri-X 400 and 2 rolls of Ilford HP5+. I let Jesse kind of lead the way around the inside of the building, where she seemed to dance from one side to the other with ideas and poses.
We shot 2 rolls of film and were walking back to the side of the building we had left our belongings. She looked around and saw this metal beam and crawled up on it and said, “We should’ve shot something on here too. Next time…” I’m really glad i had that third roll of film with me. We shot 108 frames total that afternoon. I went home and processed them, hung them up to dry and then scanned them. Every single exposure was perfect. Well, except for 3 frames that my focus was off…
